How Volume-Bracket Billing Actually Works
Under the post-2025 model, each tier contains internal volume brackets. Ship more than your bracket allows and ShipStation moves you to the next bracket automatically — you pay that bracket's price, not a per-label penalty. As a reference point, a Standard account around the 1,000-shipment bracket has been cited near $149.99/month, moving to roughly $174.99 at the 2,000-shipment bracket. That design is genuinely friendlier than overage fees, but it cuts both ways: a strong month permanently reveals how fast your software line scales, and a seasonal spike (see our peak season surcharges guide) will move your bill up a bracket in the same billing period.
The second structural fee to understand: shipments created through your own carrier accounts — your negotiated UPS or FedEx contract rather than ShipStation's built-in rates — can incur a per-shipment fee depending on plan. High-volume shippers with strong carrier contracts should price this explicitly; it is the closest thing the current model has to a hidden line item. What the Subscription Buys: Cost per Shipment by Volume
Because plans bill by bracket, the software cost per label stays low and roughly flat as you grow — the opposite shape of flat-fee WMS pricing:

- 1,000 shipments/month on Standard (~$149.99) → ~$0.15/label
- 2,000 shipments/month on Standard (~$174.99) → ~$0.09/label
